So What is a Step and Repeat Banner?

“Step-and-Repeat” or "Step-and-Repeats" is the phrase used to describe the process of duplicating or repeating an object or logo and the staggered spacing. The Step and Repeat action is used in software programs such as Adobe Illustrator, Corel Draw and by graphics designers to properly align logos, objects and copy.

A Step-Repeat Banner is a media backdrop display that has one or more sponsor logos repeated in a step or diagonal alternating pattern. The purpose of a step and repeat banner is to emphasize a brand name, company logo or sports team name during media press conferences, red carpet events, celebrity photo op's, movie premiers and special events.

The step and repeat backdrop banner is specifically designed for television and photo opportunities where a person or celebrity stands in front of it so when paparazzi photographs are taken the logos are visible in the background. Virginia based DDI Signs®,www.ddisigns.com a leader in providing innovative and original signage solutions to the Ice Rink Industry was contracted to help The Washington Capitals NHL Hockey Team complete the beautification and rebranding of there new practice rink and corporate offices in Arlington Virginia.

The largest part of the project was completed in time for the unveiling of the Capitals new logo. “Prepping and Installation of the large window graphic took our two man crew two days to complete. We are very pleased to have the opportunity to provide these enhancements to the Capitals new rink,” said Keith Newsome owner of DDI Signs.

The 27’ x 54’ foot window graphic was digitally printed on a new vinyl product that is designed specifically for use on exterior glass windows. The graphics were hand die cut for this custom installation.

George Parr, Senior Director of Operations for The Washington Capitals said, “It’s very satisfying to deal directly with a sign professional such as Keith who is very ‘hands on’ versus an account rep who doesn’t have his depth of knowledge and experience.
